Why Bone Broth?
Bone broth has many health benefits. Some of them include:
- Rich in vitamins & minerals
- Gut healing
- Great for nails, skin, & hair
Making bone broth is also a great way to live sustainably. You reduce your waste by using the entire animal, even its bones and cartilage.
How To Make Bone Broth
This recipe is specifically formulated for pressure cookers. My go-to pressure cooker is my Ninja Foodi 12-in-1. Cook times will vary when cooking on the stove.
- Save bones from chicken, turkey, etc.
- Add giblets, if you have them
- Add bones and spices to your pressure cooker pot. I chose turmeric, black pepper, ginger, and salt. Add between 1/2 and 1 teaspoon of each. Be sure to add black pepper if you add turmeric. Black pepper is essential for your body to absorb turmeric.
- Add veggies if you want. Adding veggies is not necessary! I like adding carrot scraps and celery. Mushrooms are another great addition!
- Add 12-13 cups of water to fill a pressure cooker & mix your ingredients
- Cook on high pressure for at least 3.5 hours. The longer, the better!
- Release pressure. You can release naturally or Quick Release.
- Strain broth & enjoy!

Store Your Broth
I like to jar my broth for easy storage. Consume within 5 days in the fridge. Freeze your broth in jars or ice cubes to make it last longer.
Suggested Uses
- Sip on it
- Substitute the broth for water when cooking rice
- Drink it as a snack
- Add it to soups or as pasta water for extra flavor
